The MBPX 404 module is a small sized unit specially built for microbiological applications. The separation duties often require very high bowl speeds for an optimal performance in separation of solid particles with very small diameters.
The emphasis is on simple, user friendly design. Thanks to its compact size and mobility the MBPX 404 module is ideally suited for development applications as it can be moved easily in and out of various laboratory suites.
Connections to utilities are minimized which facilitates temporary installation and maximum flexibility. The piping design and layout permit complete dismantling and chemical sanitization and even autoclaving of flow components.

The MBPX 404 module is used for removing suspended solids with particle sizes of approx 0,5 to 50 μm from a liquid having lower density than the solids.
The solids content is usually in the range of 0,1 to 20% by volume.
The main applications are:
- bacteria separations
- rDNA products
- cell cultures
The maximum hydraulic capacity of the module is 1000 l/h (4.4 US gpm). The process capacity depends on the specific duty but is usually 100-400 l/h (0.44–1.76 US gpm).
